  Kent Show Delivers

One of the many visitors to the Kent Freemasons’ stand at the 2005 Kent Show was well known consultant gynaecologist David Penman. Having expressed an interest in Freemasonry he was later visited at his home by two Past Masters of Maidstone’s Agricola Lodge No.4501, who were royally entertained by David and his wife Helen, along with their four children - including triplets.

Forcing themselves to assist David in his endeavours to reduce his stock of claret, the two were then also introduced to his father in law Bro Jeffrey Garnett. Jeffrey had been Initiated some years ago in the Lodge of Hope in Yorkshire, and after becoming a Master Mason had progressed to the office of Senior Deacon. His career as a pharmacist had then brought him to Kent, where work and family commitments caused him to put his Freemasonry on the shelf for a while.

However, now in semi retirement and greatly encouraged by his wife and family, he was now ready to pick up where he had previously left off and wanted to join a local Lodge. The end result was that Jeffrey became a joining member of Agricola Lodge and promptly proposed David who was Initiated in April. How’s that for an assisted delivery!
