SPRING
FAIR AT ‘THE COURT’
Every one was there! The Association of Friends of the Prince
George Duke of Kent Court held its annual Spring Fair on Saturday
6th May in the grounds of the Court, at Shepherds Green, Chislehurst.
The Fair was opened by RWBro Michael Bailey, Provincial Grand
Master for East Kent. With a mixture of stalls, amusements,
bric-a-brac, hot dogs, cornish pasties and raffles, trading
was brisk and, with admission monies included, the Friends expect
to reach their target of ten thousand pounds.
It was all great fun. Prince George Duke of
Kent Court is one of seventeen purpose built Homes managed
by the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution to provide care
for elderly Freemasons and their dependants. ‘The Court’
was opened 37 years ago and is currently home to 85 residents,
one of whom has reached the incredible age of 103.
The Association of Friends raises money to provide
a wide range of facilities and activities that enhance the
quality of life of the residents. Over the past seven years,
it has worked steadily to purchase a thirteen seater minibus.
The new vehicle has recently been presented and will take
residents on shopping trips, visits to the theatre, and outings
in the countryside. The Fair is the Association’s principle
fund raising event of the year.
