Notes from the Editor
After some 11 years I have stepped
down as Editor of ‘The Provincial’. It has been
a challenging and enlightening experience and I wish to thank
all those Brethren and friends who have been so supportive
of my endeavours, especially the Editorial Board and WBro
C J ‘Dick’ Barton who has accommodated all the
graphic design since we went ‘colour’ back in
December 1998.
We move on to a new era with the appointment
of WBro Roger Waltham as the new Editor. Roger is no doubt
well known in the Maidstone, Paddock Wood and West Malling
area due to his
work as an Assistant Information Officer. He has a very impressive
Masonic career and I doubt that he would want me to take up
too much space in this, his first edition, by producing his
comprehensive Masonic CV. Suffice to say that he was Initiated
into the Agricola Lodge No.4501 in 1994 and is in four Craft
Lodges and four Chapters, currently occupying the Office of
First Principal in one of them for the second consecutive
year. He is Financial Director of the Maidstone Masonic Centre
Ltd and a Past Provincial Grand Steward.
The St Augustine College (SRIA), the Swale Chapter
Rose Croix and the Telecoms Masonic Association (CTO) also
feature in his Masonic activities. His professional career
is equally interesting being from a telecommunications and
electro-mechanical engineering background, then into sales
engineering leading to marketing and qualifying as a Member
of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. His work in this
field involved the production of news letters and other similar
specific interest journals. His current business interest
is in health and safety engineering specialising in the schools
and colleges market place. He joins a well established and
knowledgeable Editorial Board and I wish them all success
under his Editorship.
