Dover Freemason’s belonging to the Snar Gate Lodge, No.6770, have presented cheques to nine charities during the past year, amounting to a total of £2,550.

During their annual ‘Hail and Farewell’ social event in the Masonic Hall, Dover, a cheque for £500 was presented from the Lodge to the Parkinsons Disease Society, Folkestone branch. Further cheques were handed on behalf of the Lodge’s Social Committee for £300 to Brambly Hedge, £400 to Demelza House, and £300 to Women’s Support Services, Dover. Other cheques are to be sent to Leukaemia Foundation for £200 and to the Rebecca McNie Trust for £300.

During the past twelve months donations have been made also by the Lodge’s Social Committee of £350 to Help the Aged, Riverside Centre, for two new wheelchairs, and £100 to Mencap.

WBro Colin Baxter, Secretary of Snar Gate Lodge Social Committee commented, ‘The Hail and Farewell’ social event was a great success and the highlight of the evening was the presentation
of these cheques to the very worthy charities. The amount raised was due to the generosity of all the Lodge members and guests who supported our various events during the year. We are very grateful to everybody who helped make it possible.”
