  Daily Advancement?

Bro Bill Flynn of the Binnewith Lodge No. 6338 has always tried to make a daily advancement, but when it comes to advancing through the offices of the Lodge he must surely hold the record.

Bill was initiated into the Moore-Keys Lodge 2519 in Kingston, Jamaica on 16th October 1958 whilst serving in the Army. He became a Master Mason in May of the following year but soon after being Invested as a Steward of the Lodge he was posted away, subsequently spending many frustrating years unable to dwell long enough with any particular Lodge to make significant progress.

Having achieved the rank of Senior Warrant Officer (S/WO1) Bill eventually retired from Army service in 1967 and joined the Law Society in London. He commuted daily and worked long hours in his new occupation so his Masonic career continued to be delayed, and it was not until he finally retired and moved to Canterbury that he researched the local Lodges and became a member of Binnewith Lodge in 2003. His keenness and enthusiasm at returning to active Masonry were obvious. Bill soon became a popular and valued member of the Lodge of Instruction, and as a result he was appointed Inner Guard - some 45 years after becoming a Steward.

He is currently Senior Deacon and is expected to become Worshipful Master in 2009 at the age of 81.
