Odyssey is a charity which enhances the
quality of life for people with cancer through imaginative
programmes of challenging and dramatic activities using the
outdoors, and for one Paddock Wood Mason it provided a means
of helping his wife through a very difficult time.
WBro Clive Luxford of the Stanley Wykeham Lodge
No.6599 picks up the story. “After my wife Lindy was
diagnosed with cancer, one of the things I felt was an inability
to help. I watched as the Odyssey experience challenged her
to restore belief in herself and gave her the courage to face
the future”. To join in the spirit of the outdoor challenge,
Clive signed himself up for an exhausting 8 day trek across
the Sahara desert, during which he raised £2,800 for
the charity. “By doing the trek I felt that I was doing
something useful to help those who are helping others”.
