  Teddy Bears Picnic

The Sunday of August Bank Holiday weekend saw 26 walkers set off along the river bank from Tonbridge to raise funds for the TLC (Teddies for Loving Care) appeal. The nine mile sponsored walk ended at Yalding with a barbeque party at the house of WBro John and Julie Keeley who were absolutely delighted with the £2,100 raised. WBro John, who is Chairman of the TLC Appeal in East Kent, hopes that the walk will become an annual fixture, and would welcome walkers from across the Province who want to support this wonderful scheme. Last year, which was the TLC Appeal’s first year in East Kent, an amazing ten thousand teddy bears were distributed to hospitals around the Province.

Now in its second year, and with all four of the Province’s accident and emergency departments plus the six minor injury units joining in the scheme, the TLC team anticipate that the number of teddy bears needed will rise to thirteen thousand. With that many bears needing to be distributed, the team are grateful to WBro Geoff Hart for the use of storage space at his Dover based transport business, and to the Brethren of East Kent for their continued financial support.
