  Birchington Lodge Supports Cancer Appeal

Earlier this year the Worshipful Master of Birchington Lodge No.9159 WBro Cliff Jewett and his wife Ann held a successful ladies night, but sadly WBro Cliff was diagnosed with cancer very shortly afterwards and was admitted to Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital (QEQM) for major surgery.

He describes the after care that he received as ‘second to none’ and goes on to say “thank God I am now on the road to recovery and looking forward to the final operation to reverse a temporary procedure”.

As a result of Cliff’s experience, he and Ann decided to donate the proceeds of their ladies night to the QEQM’s Cancer Care Appeal, which is aiming to raise the money needed for a new wing at Thanet hospital, and they are pictured here presenting a £500 cheque to the Appeal’s representative Maureen Jones. WBro Cliff is now Immediate Past Master of the Lodge, and his wife Ann is Immediate Past Master of the Lodge of Tolerance No.139
