Donation in memory of the late RWBro Ronald Beyers de Gray

Following the presentation of £97,600 last year by RWBro Roland Wade to Maidstone Hospital for the introduction of brachytherapy treatment for prostate cancer, it was agreed representatives of the Hospital would give a presentation on progress made.

Thus on 24th June, after the Kent Installed Mark Masters Lodge Meeting, the Master, VWBro Peter Williams, introduced the representatives of Maidstone Hospital; Mr Jim Lewis, Consultant Urologist; Doctor Sharon Beesley, Clinical Oncologist; and Mrs Beverley Lewis, Service Manager/Urology Nurse Specialist. A most interesting and informative presentation followed.

RWBro Roland Wade then thanked the Maidstone Hospital representatives for their presentation and went on to explain that monies, donated in memory of RWBro Ronald Byers de Gray, now totalled £5,000. Having discussed this with Mrs Thyrza de Gray and bearing in mind the time our PPGM had spent in Maidstone Hospital, Thyrza had agreed it would be appropriate to donate this money to Maidstone Hospital for the purchase of two special examination couches in the Urology Investigation Unit. These to be inscribed ‘In memory of the late Ronald Byers de Gray 1927-2005, Provincial Grand Master of the Mark Master Masons of Kent 1986-2002’.
