The Myths About Freemasonry
Following approval from the RW Provincial
Grand Master, The Pharos Lodge No. 6967 in Dover hosted an
open public meeting at The Crabble Corn Mill in Dover, to
dispel some of the myths surrounding Freemasonry. The meeting
was addressed by WBro Dr. John Reuther PGStB, of The Ashford
Lodge No. 8945 who presented a talk entitled “Freemasonry
– Fact and Fiction”
After the talk a buffet was served and then
the Provincial Grand Secretary, WBro Roger Odd PAGDC, assisted
by WBro Brian Powell PAGDC and WBro Reuther, held a question
and answers session. VWBro Peter Brooshooft PGSwdB, our Deputy
Provincial Grand Master, was also in attendance and his support
was much appreciated by all.
Of the 70 people who attended (over half of whom were non
- Masons) many asked some very pertinent questions, commenting
afterwards that it had been an extremely enlightening evening,
and that they were going home with a very positive view of
Freemasonry. The evening was clearly a great success and a
significant sum was raised for the Mill which is completely
reliant upon donations and volunteer helpers to keep it in
a good state of repair.
In his closing comments, WBro Mike Webb, the
Worshipful Master of Pharos Lodge No. 6967, thanked Mr. Harry
Reid the Chairman of the Crabble Corn Mill Trust and his team
of volunteers for helping to make the evening such a success.
