Grand
Charity Supports East Kent Hospices
With the total support of hospices throughout
the country now exceeding a staggering £5,000,000 the
Grand Charity continues its very welcome support of hospices
in our own Province. This year £50,000 (approx.) has
been sent out to Provinces around the country, a very generous
£16,000 (approx.) of which has been made available to
our own East Kent hospices.
WBro Tony Denne PAGDC, the Provincial Grand
Charity Steward, and his team have been busily organising
the distribution and presentation of the money to the the
various hospices around the Province. One such presentation
was made in January to the Heart of Kent Hospice at Aylesford
by Assistant Provincial Grand Master, WBro John Grumbridge,
who is seen in the photograph presenting the cheque for over
two and half thousand pounds to the hospice’s Fund Raising
Manager, Jane Newman. “We could not function or survive
without these regular donations from organisations in the
area” commented Ms Newman “and we are very appreciative
of the wonderful support we receive from Freemasonry. Apart
from the regular amounts donated by individual Lodges through
the course of each year, and of course the annual street collection
that Maidstone Freemasons undertake every summer on behalf
of the hospice, the annual receipt of such a large sum from
your Grand Charity is very important to us, being much larger
than other regular amounts that we receive”.
