It was the fifth of November 1987 that the Maidstone based Monckton Lodge No. 9236 was consecrated, and in January of this year it celebrated it’s one hundreth meeting. The Lodge was pleased to welcome WBro Charles Boxer PAGDC, APGM as its guest, who kindly agreed to present Bro Paul Catch with his Grand Lodge Certificate. The main event at the meeting was a talk given by WBro Mike Cross, PAGDC, PPrJGW who was the Founding Master of the Lodge, entitled “How it all began”. As is the custom of the Lodge at the January meeting, the Festive Board was organised as a Burns Supper. The haggis was piped in by a representative of 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, more popularly known as the Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders, and addressed by Senior Warden Bro Jim McDonald, who also gave an interesting summary of the connection between The Bard and Freemasonry. The Piper and dancers further entertained the Brethren, all of whom agreed that it had been an excellent and thoroughly enjoyable evening.
